This training course concentrates on awareness level training for manager, engineers and technicians in the practical application of hazard and operability workshops (known as HAZOP). Training takes the form of an introductory presentation followed by 6 interactive workshop examples where course participants can obtain an understanding of HAZOP techniques and skills.

Hazops are applicable at both the design stage, and throughout the life of an operational plant where they support the validation of the plant safety case. Hazops are a valuable tool when considering modifications and upgrades to existing plant. The workshop introduces the basics of hazard study methods and includes training in risk assessment methods using FMEA and Fault Tree Analysis. It presents Hazops in the context of related plant and control system design activities. Later stages of the workshop introduce the principles of alarm management and safety instrumented systems to promote an integrated approach to protection systems. Consequently this workshop will be of interest to process engineers and instrumentation specialists alike.
