Explosive Discussions at the Safety Control Systems and Hazardous Areas Conference – Auckland

Discussion was heated and emotions ran high as delegates debated the cause and management of the Pike River Mine Disaster during the Safety Control Systems and Hazardous Areas Conference in Auckland earlier last month. This was just one of the many interesting and dynamic discussions which took place over the two day event.

With 62 in attendance, the conference featured 12 presentations from local and international industry experts. Sharing their knowledge and expertise included representatives from leading companies such as Clough AMEC, Exida, Transfield Worley, NHP and Pilz.

Industry renowned experts, Dr Eric Scharpf and Colin Murphy were the keynote speakers of the event and it was also attended by Chairman of the joint AS/NZ Hazardous Areas Committee, Garry House.

IDC Technologies, who believe the success of the event is a strong indication of the need for ongoing training and education in these critical areas of engineering.
