These providers are a blend of both on-campus and online institutes who offer a range of courses in various fields of study. With enrolments on a perpetual increase, the education industry has become (over a number of years) a high earner with an estimated value of over $26 billion back in 2012.

Chief Australian Scientist, Ian Chubb, has been motivated by a belief that his country’s economic future is looking grim. He is concerned that it is losing its competitive edge in the vital areas of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). Costa Concordia Follow-Up

In October last year I wrote an article entitled Plucky Engineering and Ingenuity which looked at the Costa Concordia cruise ship disaster. In this short follow-up it is gratifying to report that it has been successfully towed the180 nautical mile voyage to its scrapping yard in Genoa - it arrived on the 27th July.  

Thor, Lightning and Football

 

Perhaps Thor, the Norse god of thunder and lightning, was making a point?  The plane carrying the Spanish national football team home from the World Cup in Brazil was struck as it approached its landing in Madrid. One may even wonder if the angry god had taken a bet on this bruised team - adding insult to injury.
