This conference will examine and discuss the latest local and international practices and standards in process and machine safety. It will focus on the technology and application of safety-related control and instrumentation systems in the chemicals, energy, mining and manufacturing industries. It will also examine the complex and challenging issues of using control systems technology to maintain and improve the safety of people and plant whilst ensuring profitability.
We have lined up two excellent keynote speakers for the event:
Mr Edward Marszal - President of Kenexis Corporation from the USA who is an ISA Fellow and former Director of the ISA Safety Division. Edward is an active senior member in ISA at the local and national levels and is also a senior member of AIChE and a member of NFPA. He is a registered professional engineer in Ohio and Illinois and also a TÜV certified functional safety expert.
We also welcome local safety expert Mr Ron Bell who is a member of the IEC Advisory Committee on Safety (ACOS), past chair of the IET Functional Safety Professional Network, chair of the IET Residential Course on Safety Critical Systems. currently chairs one of the two teams responsible for the revision of IEC 61508. In 2005 he received the IEC 1906 Award and he received the OBE in the Queen's 2006 New Year Honours.
Both Edward and Ron will be presenting a half day pre-conference workshop on the 19th May 2009.
