Enhance your career and strengthen your public profile by presenting a technical paper at one of IDC Technologies conferences.
PRESENTING AT AN IDC EVENT - FAQ's Answered:
• All speakers receive free attendance to the two day experience giving them a chance to discuss new technologies and developments with their peers.
• Please keep in mind IDC do not cover travel expenses for presenters. Only pre-conference workshop presenters and keynote speakers are paid for their contributions to the event.
• All presenters can forward on a 10% discount off the registration fee for their work colleagues.
• The conference is emphatically not aimed at allowing speakers to “sell” their products but rather on generic technology and solutions.
• A technical paper & PowerPoint presentation are requested 6 weeks prior to the event. Each presenter is allocated 45 minutes - 30 minutes for the actual slide presentation the remaining 15 minutes will be occupied by an interactive presentation where you will prepare and present an interactive session where the whole audience will participate. This should comprise of practical exercises, software exercises, case studies, equipment demos, quizzes or syndicate sessions.

TO EXPRESS INTEREST:
To express an interest in presenting at an IDC Event, email a 100 word abstract outlining your suggested topic. Topics that include case studies and practical applications have higher likelihood of being accepted.

New Remote Isolation Technology in Practice – A Case Study
This case study is about new remote isolation technology that removes electrical personnel from switch rooms and is capable of achieving a SIL3/Cat 4 safety rating. Access problems meant that an 8,000tph port conveyor took 90 minutes and a 50km round trip to isolate. Since 2012 the programmable remote isolation system has taken less than three minutes for a full current isolation. By integrating control and automation technology, it eliminates regular exposure to arc flash hazard during isolations. Extra production availability returned its investment in full by the second time it was used.

Effective Surge Protection
Installation Surge protection devices protect against overvoltages caused by lightning, switching operations and other transient disturbances. These disturbances have fast rise times in the order of microseconds, so cable impedance, namely inductance, becomes important. This paper will show how cable impedance can critically affect the performance of surge protection devices when installed. There are many ways this detriment can be eliminated, both for power and signal line surge protection devices. This presentation will examine the most effective ways to install surge protection, demonstrate some solutions and present case studies on how simple changes in installation can turn useless installation into something that is really effective.
